As illustrated in the accompanying photographs, the east end of the original Brimacombe Building has now a brand new four story-plus-basement wing connected to it on the east end, running along East Mall.
Approximately 2/3 of the new laboratory and office space will house existing and soon-to-be hired SBQMI faculty members’ groups, with the remaining 1/3 dedicated to advanced materials and process engineering research groups from the Faculty of Applied Science, including the Composites Research Network [http://crn.ubc.ca/] & DLR@UBC: Materials and Structures for Global Mobility [https://apsc.ubc.ca/news/2016/09/launch-dlrubc-materials-and-structures-global-mobility] [http://www.dlr.de/dlr//en/desktopdefault.aspx/tabid-10002/].
The new extension includes over 3000 m2 of state-of-the-art, low-vibration, low-noise laboratory space complemented by a suite of integrated office and meeting space.
Please come by and visit our beautiful new building!
